While they aren't industry standard for recording ( I work in studios across the country, never seen a studio built around Logic or Ableton) it's the standard for bedroom warriors. If you wanna make the next club banger, work in one of these two. Logic/Ableton: Designed mainly for use with midi. I actually prefer it to Ableton and Logic. If you learn midi editing in Pro Tools, you'll be fine. Midi in Pro Tools is less intuitive than some other daws, but there's nothing you can do in Logic you can't do in Pro Tools.
With PT12 you have all the modern feature of Logic or Ableton, which it was lacking for a while, like track freeze and commit. If you plan on making records in the traditional sense, like plugging in microphones and instruments go with Pro Tools. I'd be willing to bet 99% of all records released were mixed in Pro Tools. There is no better DAW for working with audio (wav files). If you're wanting to get in to scoring to picture, I'd say Cubase.
As a dude who makes his living making records, I'd say pick either Pro Tools, Logic, or Ableton.
